Substance Abuse Counseling
The Cycle of Addiction is seemingly never ending .The person usually enters into this dangerous affliction because they attempt to compensate for some personal deficiency or life situation. They are depressed, unhappy or incapable of dealing with their life situations. It could be as simple as the rejection of a significant other, the loss of a loved one, or as complex as a major life crisis. This causes the person to seek "help" in the form of drugs or alcohol. Thus, the cycle of addiction begins.
Drugs are essentially a pain-killer. They avert emotional and physical pain providing the user with a temporary and illusionary escape from life. When a person is unable to cope with some aspect of their reality and is introduced to drugs they feel they have perhaps solved the problem itself. This impacts the entire family. Recovery from addiction is possible through intervention, treatment, abstinence and acknowledgement of a life that has become unmanageable.
Grief & Spiritual Counseling
When we experience a significant loss in our lives, we grieve. Grief can be emotionally and physically draining; it consumes a tremendous amount of energy. It is also a necessary process, the link between loss and moving forward. We may grieve not just for people who have died, but also for social losses, such as divorce, job loss, and life-altering illnesses or injuries even the loss of a pet can trigger feeling of loss. The type of grief and the symptoms associated with it can vary and may depend on the circumstances. We can experience sleep and appetite disturbances, reduced sex drive, and marked preoccupation with thoughts about the deceased may be signs of increased difficulty in dealing with the death. Learn about the five phases of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Learn how the spirit lives on and how we can reinvest our lives.
Inner Child Work
For us to be fully human, the Child Within must be embraced and expressed. Unless we connect with our Inner Child state in a safe setting, the Child Within will remain isolated and alone. Unless we reclaim our childlike feelings, sensitivity, wonderment and aliveness, our Inner Child will remain wounded. Unless we do this now, we will find it so difficult to feel WHOLE. People with persistent problems such as addiction, depression, troubled relationships and chronic dissatisfaction can transform their lives with Inner Child Work and find a new joy and energy in living. The source of their problems can be in past events which get triggered in the present. We’re made up of many parts and inside we still have the little child and adolescent we were with all its experiences and feelings. This can lead to this Inner Child / adolescent part of us reacting strongly to certain experiences and situations and the feelings we’re having in the present can be the feelings of this little child / adolescent from the past. The process of opening to the world of you Inner Child and getting to know where these feelings come from can change that and enhance your choices in miraculous ways.
